From late 2008 until early 2010 I lived abroad and studied in Toronto, Canada.
The summer started in the Eastern provinces of Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The lack of transport to cross Newfoundland to hike in Gros Morne meant that putting my thumb out ended up being the logical choice. Four months later I had crossed the continent and seen parts of the country inaccessible without the help of the generous locals who shared their car with me.
I took work when I needed to, slept where I had to, and left Canada for the United States at the end of the experience to wind down and listen to music before University in Toronto started up again in the Fall.
